Pregnancy - Week 06

Email Print

This week your baby’s neural tube will turn into her spinal column and will be completely formed and closed.

The little “pea” starts to divide its shape into something that will eventually turn into a head, with little lumps where the chin, the eyes, the ears will form.

The little tube beating irregularly so far divides into four minuscule chambers and finally finds its proper rhythm.

Some major organs, such as the liver, kidneys and lungs start to get shape.

Your little pea becomes more like a peanut now and measures up to 5 mm.

This is a 6 weeks ultrasound scan. The little black spot in the shape of a teardrop, being measured, is the baby, only 5 mm at the time.
